Free tax filing by AARP (off-site)

Good news for those looking to get taxes filed for free!

While we won’t be hosting the AARP Free Tax Filing program this year at our location, we did received a communication from the AARP Tax program coordination with the following information for those interested in having their taxes done for free. Please feel free to share this post. We are adding this info to our website for easier access as well.

From AARP:Free AARP Tax Preparation at two locations.AARP will once again be offering free tax preparation to low-moderate income taxpayers with special emphasis on those over 50.

-ALL appointments will be taken by the Port Washington State Bank of Cedarburg, 262-377-0750. Tuesday appointments will be at Crossroads church, 6031 W Chapel Hill Rd, Mequon and Wednesday appointments will be at the Ozaukee County Fairground Pavilion, W67N866 Washington Ave, Cedarburg.

-Once you have an appointment, you will need to pick up IN ADVANCE paperwork to be filled out at home and brought to your appointment. These forms can be picked up at the Port Washington State Bank of Cedarburg, W61N526 Washington Ave.

-Please bring the completed forms to your appointment along with valid ID, proof of social security numbers and all tax documents.

-Due to Covid, preparation will once again NOT be done in-person. Tax Payers will bring their documents to their designated appointment time to be dropped off and return to pick up their completed return and documents later the SAME DAY.

-As always, bring your last year’s tax return with you. Be sure that you have all tax documents. Some tax documents may not have arrived by the earlier appointment dates.

-If applying for Homestead credit you must have your signed rent certificate (s) or latest property tax bill (whether paid or not). Married filing separately, rental income, farm income, are some of the areas that are out-of- scope and can not be prepared. The bank tellers are generously taking your appointments only and are not prepared to answer questions.

-Appointments can be made starting January 10th.
